STUDENT LIFE
Academics & Sports
The students of Villa Cecilia Academy of Arts and Technology are highly competitive, as vouched by the students' performance in the classroom and in off-school competitions. The school, however screens competitions very well to ascertain the interest of the greater majority of students. Schedule of training and review is now incorporated in the class program to avoid rushed reviews and abandoned classrooms in favor of the few who are assigned as participants. The academic program includes research and oral communication to better prepare the students for higher level learning. Competitive students should be exposed to competitive and very good faculty members. Teachers are trained in the training room or on a one-on-one conference. Notes on the lesson plans, pre-opening academic activities, edited examination papers and faculty meetings are but a few development opportunities made available to the powerhouse of the school--the faculty.
Students who are not able to cope with the lessons due to poor reading skill are given intervention activities. Diagnostic test is administered at the beginning of the school year and a progrnostic test is given at the end of the year to assess whether the students made progress after being exposed to instruction. To make sure that the faculty members do not become complacent in teaching, formal and summative observations are designed to improve teaching performance. Students are also provided the prospect to evaluate their teachers and all these factor in, in determining the overt performance level of the teachers. The academic program is supported by both co and extra-curricular activities.
